As a trustee of the Hereford Community Skatepark it was amazing to be involved in the design and positioning of a Chelsea Flower Show garden donated by Betong Park, Urban Organic and Planet Good Earth. The donation was one of the first of a hopefully expanding regime of re-use rather than the usual destruction (!) of these concentrated gems of landscape architecture. Betong Park Ltd, who designed the recent 1/2 million pound expansion together with Urban Organic edible gardens and Planet Good Earth collaboratively designed the garden and whose re-use was supported by Project Giving Back. The community came out to help and the 3 ton quarter pipe and extensive planting was successfully installed not least with the help and expertise of Growing Local and of course our very own Boombox Skate Shop and Hereford Skatepark Community Cafe. It goes without saying that innumerable skaters, skaters parents, trustees, families and friends all pulled together to make this an enjoyable and successful days graft! Even the chunky timbers that originally held the ramp at the height of the plants at Chelsea have been up-cycled into robust and contemporary benches ready for any grind or 50/50.
